The artist has handed over the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound award winnings to the MVT, which functions to save the UK's independent concert spaces.

Fender was awarded the prize on October 16 as his latest record the album was declared the best record of the last 12 months.

Fender has opted to give the cash to the trust, in appreciation of the essential function grassroots venues played in his beginning days.

"As an artist couldn't be pursuing my current career if it wasn't for all the gigs I did around the region, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," remarked Sam Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are in difficulty."

From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these spaces have shut down – approximately one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

Recently, major artists such as Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all supported the MVT in its attempts to support the industry, by applying a small levy to their admission fees, which benefits smaller concert halls.

He also joined in, raising over £100k on his 2024 arena tour to assist 38 grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.

These funds assisted locations that were confronting possible closure due to issues caused by water damage, fire incidents and bereavements, as well as permit problems, court cases and neighbor objections.

Additional spaces were granted monetary aid in modernizing amenities and gear that helped musicians and fans.

"The notion that money from shows in major spaces backs the independent spots, where it all starts for performers like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has stated.

He is among several artists to give his honor funds to good deeds.

In they earned the award in the mid-90s for their record the album, vocalist the singer announced that the band would donate their cash to the charity War Child.

That year, musician Ms Dynamite shared her bounty across several charities, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"And I donated a £1,000 to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I trained in gymnastics when I was younger and they required new equipment," Ms Dynamite shared with the media.

In recent years, they gave their winnings to the youth organization that developed their band, alongside other local music groups.

Also 1994 winners the group gave their prize to a MS organization after a close contact was identified with the disease.

"Winning was quite enough," stated artist Heather Small. "The prize was the extra but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the cake. So our winning touched another person's life."

Last week, the MVT announced it had protected two grassroots venues in south-east England, by placing them under local control.

The Joiners in that area and the other in Bristol were purchased under the community ownership scheme, which is funded by the arts council and supporters who acquire "stakes" in the properties.
